On Saturday, we did a free guided tour in Bo-Kaap. The name Bo-Kaap refers to its location on the slopes of Signal Hill Mountain (“Above the Cape” in Afrikaans). It is home to a high concentration of Muslims, who are descendants of populations from Malaysia, India, and Indonesia who were deported by the Dutch East India Company from the 17th Century. The area is known for its brightly colored homes.
Most picturesque streets: Chiappini, Rose, and Wale.
