Xsara on tour

Salut tout le monde,

That’s it. We did it! The move from Bremen to Munich has finally been performed within only 2 days instead of 3 originally planned. Pilotes & goods arrived safely. Berta & Mustafa with the beautiful vintage Xsara rallye and me with an Iveco sprinter.

  • Start : 1:10 am
  • Arrival: 11:25 am.
  • Duration: 10h 15min
  • Nb of stops: 5
  • Max Speed: 140 km/h (with ease for the Xsara).

Indeed, we rented a Sprinter at the last moment, as we got the confirmation from the move company that our stuff will not fit in the 40m3 truck. (Btw, since we had to drive it, and that Mustafa doesn’t have yet its driving license, we left the Corserati in Bremen. So if somebody is interested to rent it or buy it until the 20/08, let us know).

The loading started on the 24/04 at 7am in the practice, and finished at 3pm in Lohne with the help of 4 removal men.

In the meantime, the move company spontaneously decided to perform the unloading on the next day and asked us to organize the keys of the new flat and a simplified hand-over between them and the property management company. Thank to the flexibility of the team of Enzenhöfer Immobilien, one employee of the move team manage to get the keys and hoped not to participate to the move on the next day, due to the 4 storey without lift.

The unloading started on the 25/04 at 7am and finished at 2pm with the help of 3 additional people, including the guy who wished not to participate to the climbing of the 96 stairs.

Anyhow many thanks to the Löwen Umzüge company!! They were very professional, friendly and helpful. I can definitely recommend them!

Yesterday we were thinking that we just need to unpack the 70 cartons stress-free and to recover the lack of sleeping time, but since we are now leaving in a street with parking fees between 8am and 11pm, and that the Xsara already became famous in Munich by collecting its first ticket, we decided today to speed up the formalities to get a yearly parking permit.

So today:

  • 8am: Registration as new resident in Munich.
  • 9am: Car registration of the Xsara. Yes I already have new number plates starting with a “M” like Mustafa and followed by K & D.
  • 10am: Application for a parking permit.
  • 2pm: 2h30 nap.
